removed shib doge others

The crypto exchange removed DOGE, SHIB, and 13 other coins from Earn, but added ZIL, NEAR, and FTM.

Crypto.com has announced that it is removing 15 cryptocurrencies from its Crypto Earn rewards program. Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Tezos (XTZ), and FLOW are among those being removed. However, the company didn’t give any details on why it removed those particular tokens.

In a related development, they added Zilliqa (ZIL), Fantom (FTM), and NEAR to their Earn list.

Crypto.com also disclosed that they are adjusting the reward rates for five different stablecoins: TGBP, TAUD, TCAD, TUSD, and USDP (Paxos USD), the digital assets pegged to the British Pound, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, and US Dollar. Reward rates for other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon, and Solana were maintained.

Response to the news was rather mixed, with many users expressing their disappointment via Twitter. One user stated that it was “a shame” that Shiba Inu and Dogecoin rewards were no longer an option.  The two meme coins are quite popular among crypto enthusiasts, most notably Elon Musk who is a vocal supporter of Doge.

Others stated that the exchange’s interest rates were so low that they were comparable to a traditional bank. “Not worth locking up any funds!” another user said.

While several people were disappointed by the news, others reasoned the company was making positive strides toward “long-term sustainability.”

Crypto.com’s Crypto Earn changes come just two weeks after the company announced that it was laying off 5% of its staff due to the “market downturn.”  This comes as most crypto companies are laying off staff in order to stay afloat amidst the tough financial conditions.
